Baniyas closed the Arab Gulf League tournament on Tuesday with a draw against Al-Wahda and the midfielder Gastón Álvarez Suárez scored his team’s only goal.
The 28-year-old from Cordoba opened the bookmark scoring a penalty 10 minutes into the second half. Thus he achieved his second consecutive goal as he had done it the previous date against Al-Dhafra.
The midfielder was one of the figures of the UAE team that finished in the second place in the tournament with 54 points, three behind the champion Al-Jazeera.
Álvarez Suárez, who has already renewed his contract until 2022, finished successfully his first year at Baniyas. In total, he played 30 games, scored 5 goals and had 7 assists.
